Theme 05 - Basic Content

Theme 05 was divided into two modules, whereas the first was to create a 1 minute silent video with a small story included and the other part was to redesign a real organization’s web page and create content for them to achieve their goal.

The first exercise 05.01.01 - ‘A Story Without Words’ was a great way to be creative with the recording techniques as we were forced to use the techniques to explain our story due to the no word limitation. I paired up with my classmate Thórdís and we decided to use the S.C.R.A.P to have a strong idea of the video and the 5 shots to create a diversity in the different shots. Then I also learned the basics of editing a video with color temperature to set a specific mood.

The next part was an interesting working method as we were given an organization FreeFridge Copenhagen and had to work in a group as a real life freelancer job could look like. This time it was important for me to include roles to every member of the group. My role was to be the facilitator. I did this by making sure everybody had tasks to work on and to keep the helicopter view of the project, to make sure everything was done to the expected time. To do so we created a Trello board for everyone to keep track of the tasks and to start doing the missing tasks. This assignment required a lot of research and interviews. We created some personas based on the research and had an interview with our clients to find their weaknesses and strengths in order to improve their weaknesses. We found out that they lack volunteers therefore it became our goal to intensify the content with this focus. Before creating the video we made a treatment and a storyboard, so that we knew exactly what and how many shots we needed, as well as how they must play out and which probs we needed.

For the end result we created a webpage by using former tools. The changes we made was the color scheme and logo which we found important to be more organic as it is a food organisation. We made the webpage and logo more green and organic in the look and layout. We learned from testing that it was important that the user easily finds the information, therefore we made the language and layout style more simple and more readable. We then created the video based on the Treatment and Storyboard. Lastly we had to pitch the idea, in which we used the picha-kucha model which gives a more fluent and interesting pitch for the customer.
